Although they are not currently recording or performing together, *NSYNC still has many loyal fans around the world. This ad is in celebration and recognition of the group's formation in 1995, ten years ago. For more detail and sentiment, please see the About Us section of this website.
2.
Will *NSYNC see the ad?
Well, we
hope so but we'd still place the ad if we knew they
wouldn't - the message is just that important to us.
When the time is right, we'll do what we can to alert
the appropriate people that this ad is being placed.
But we DON'T want the members of *NSYNC to know about
it beforehand. It may be impossible, but we'd like
to make it a surprise for the guys. Word spreads quick in this fandom; let's be as secretive as possible, okay? After December 10th, feel free to tell whoever you like.
3. Why did you initially pick October 22, 2005 as the date for the ad to run, and why did you change it to December 17, 2005?
We originally chose the October 22nd issue of Billboard because October 22, 2005 marks 10 years to the day that *NSYNC was introduced at Pleasure Island at Disney World, FL, to perform their first public concert.
We have since decided to push the date of the ad's run back to December 17th, 2005, due to the tragedy and devastation caused by Hurricane Katrina, Rita and Wilma. We felt that delaying the ad (and fundraising efforts) would allow everyone involved with the project to focus both emotionally and financially on the crisis at hand.
4. How did you design the ad? Aren't those pictures copyrighted?
Over the last six months, the *NSYNC 10 Project solicited ad design layouts, suggestions for text, and suggestions for pictures from fans. All these ideas were submitted to an online community, where the ultimate design for the ad was determined by majority-rules voting.
Two photographs were used in the final ad design. The first photograph was taken by a fan in 1997 and donated for use in the ad. Publishing rights to this picture have been obtained by project administrators and are available upon request. The second photograph was taken by WireImage photographers in 2005, and has been licensed for use in this ad. The WireImage receipt is available upon request.
5. How did you get people to donate? Are you still accepting donations?Over the last six months, fans from all over the world donated in a variety of ways, via PayPal online as well as physically mailing in checks, money orders, and cash. Fans also brought attention to the *NSYNC 10 Project by advertising it on their messageboards, websites, MySpace profiles, and blogs. This project's success is completely due to the energy and generosity of the fans, and we could never have reached our goal if not for the efforts of countless dedicated people online and offline.
We are no longer accepting donations for this project. For final financial details, please visit the Contribute section of this website.
6. You raised more than money than the ad cost - what are you doing with the left-over money?Majority-rules voting in the aforementioned online community determined that any excess money raised should be donated to the Make A Wish Foundation, in honor of *NSYNC. In accordance with this, a donation of $200 (the excess money raised) has been made to the Mississippi chapter, Gulf Coast office of the Make A Wish Foundation. This chapter and office were selected in recognition of the natural disasters in that area (which is also the part of the country that Lance Bass is from, in an effort to make the charity donation tied to *NSYNC).

7. How do I get a copy of Billboard Magazine with the ad in it?The ad will be in the
December 17th issue of Billboard Magazine, which comes out for sale on December 10th, 2005. Billboard Magazine is generally available in the United States at large chain bookstores and music stores, such as Borders or Tower Records, and at corner newsstands. If you are unable to find Billboard, you can order individual copies by emailing
billboard@espcomp.com or by calling (800) 562-2706 (U.S.) or (818) 487-4582 (international). Remember that you will most likely be able to order this issue before December 10th, and when ordering it, remember to specify that you are interested in the
December 17th issue.
You can also order the issue online at
billboard.com and the product code number is:
BLI-12/17/2005.
We have a spreadsheet of stores that receive Billboard and how many copies each receives. This includes addresses and phone numbers. The "draw" column on the right is the number of copies each receives. [
