ABOUT
THIS PROJECT
On May 28th, 2005,
an *NSYNC fan turned to her friends and said, "Hey, you know
how the guys did that showcase at Pleasure Island in late
October of '95, and how they always said Lance joined the
group two weeks before that? That makes this October the tenth
anniversary of the formation of *NSYNC. Would it be totally
crazy to try and put an ad in some major publication, a fan
appreciation message to commemorate the anniversary?"
"That's not crazy,"
her friends said. "That's a great idea. We should do that!"
And that's what
we're trying to do.
The *NSYNC 10 Project
is an international fan effort to creatively collaborate on
a message of celebration and appreciation for *NSYNC, and
to raise enough money - approximately $9520 - to run the message
in the October 22nd, 2005 issue of Billboard Magazine.
Individually and
collectively, the five members of *NSYNC have given so much
to their fans. From music that gets us dancing to songs that
move us to tears; from interviews that make us howl with laughter
to appearances that make us scream with excitement; from the
genuine appreciation they have for their craft to the genuine
affection they have for each other - all these reasons and
more have brought *NSYNC fans together and helped us to build
communities of friends, relationships that immeasurably impact
our lives and change us for the better.
They were loved
then. They are loved still. Help us to tell them.
If you are an *NSYNC
fan, please consider donating to the *NSYNC 10 Project. Please
help make 2005 a year that Chris, JC, Joey, Justin and Lance
will never forget - the year their fans said "Guess what,
dorks? We still love you."
UPDATE: We have decided to push the date of the ad's run back to December 17th, 2005, due to the tragedy and devastation caused by Hurricanes Katrina, Rita and Wilma. We felt that delaying the ad (and fundraising efforts) would allow everyone involved with the project to focus both emotionally and financially on the crisis at hand. We urge everyone to consider donating to disaster relief efforts.
